puppy adoption

Policies

Adoption Process

In order to begin the adoption process, we ask that you fill out the online application.  We will then contact you by phone to discuss litter options and availability.  The application process is the first initial phase and does not require a reservation fee until VonDoodles is given written or verbal authorization to proceed to the next steps which is securing a place on the master reservation list.

Once it is determined that you would like to be added to one of the master reservation lists, a non-refundable reservation fee of $200 secures your place on the master list for either Bernedoodles or Sheepadoodles. We will send you a reservation list fee & agreement form. This form must be signed before being placed on the master list.

When a litter is born, I will contact everyone on the master waitlist. You have the option of joining the reservation list for that litter or passing. The remaining $200 reservation fee is due at that time. The total $400 fee will go towards your final payment price. You may pass 3 times and not go to the bottom of the list. However, if you pass more than 3 times, your placement on the master list is forfeited and you will go to the bottom of the list.

Picking a Puppy

Puppy selection takes place after the 6 week vet visit and is based on the order in which your deposit agreement fee was received. After the puppies have been examined by our veterinarian, Dr. Nye at Blue Springs Animal Hospital in Blue Springs, MO, we will post pictures and videos of the puppies on Facebook.  An email will be sent out to notify families prior to posting online.  We ask that on this day all families pick 3-4 of their top puppy choices and notify VonDoodles as soon as possible via email.  Families that would the opportunity to visit puppies may do so on a scheduled day TBD based on VonDoodles availability.  We will do our best to accommodate visitations and expedite them as quickly as possible.  We know many will be anxious to know whether one of the three puppies they picked will be the one they receive!  We thank you for your patience and understanding as visitation day may not fall on the same day pictures and videos are posted to Facebook, however it will be after the puppies have had their 6 week vaccination.

 Breeding Rights

Each puppy will be sold on a strict spay/neuter contract.  Breeding rights are available to small, approved breeders.  Please contact us about breeding right pricing.

Health Guarantee

VonDoodles provides a 2 year health guarantee that is limited to the following medical/genetic conditions: cancer, genetic eye conditions, epilepsy, heart disorders and any other disorder that is genetic in nature.  This health guarantee is contingent upon the owner spaying or neutering the puppy by age 12 months, feeding a high quality kibble and vaccinating/worming/vet care according to the proper protocol established by a licensed vet (not online ordered shots or purchased from a Tractor store). Please keep receipts of the above items to verify conditions were met. We do not guarantee injury, accident, owner neglect or any other cause out of our control.  VonDoodles promises the puppy is in good health at the time of pick-up or delivery. If this puppy is found to have a life-threatening illness diagnosed by a vet within 48 hours from the date of purchase, the buyer may return the puppy to VonDoodles at the buyer’s expense to receive a full refund or a replacement puppy if one is available. VonDoodles makes no guarantees for coat, color, size or temperament of the Puppy.

Proof of examination and any diagnosis must be provided to us within 7 days after diagnosis. The name and number of the vet responsible for performing the exam must be included in writing along with all of the results and a formal diagnosis of the genetic disease or hereditary defect.

VonDoodles reserves the right to a second veterinary opinion.

VonDoodles guarantees the Puppy is free of hereditary defects to the best of our knowledge and any known health issues will be disclosed before purchase. Should the puppy incur a genetic or hereditary defect after 9 weeks of age, such as cancer, genetic eye conditions, epilepsy, heart disorders and any other disorder that is genetic in nature, VonDoodles will pay Veterinary expenses up to half the purchase price.

This contract does not cover the following: viral illnesses, parasites, infections, improper bites, viral giardia or coccidiosis or kennel cough. It also does not cover illnesses due to the ingestion of foreign objects, food, chemicals, stress related issues, behavioral issues, physical injuries and/or illnesses which may have occurred and/or contracted during or after transport to the buyer.

As stated above VonDoodles promises to a make the puppy families aware of any and all known health issues before the purchase of this puppy. VonDoodles is not liable for any accident or injury of the animal once it leaves our premises. Once the puppy leaves our care, we have very little control over how the puppy is handled, where the puppy is taken or what the puppy is exposed to.

Go home day!

Our puppies are ready to go to their new homes once they are 8 weeks old. If you need us to hold your puppy after he/she turns 8 weeks old, please make arrangements with us ahead of time. There will be a $30/day charge for any puppy that is not picked up within three days of their go home date.  If you are unable to pick up your puppy in person, we can place you in touch with our flight nanny in order to make travel arrangements.  The general cost for a flight nanny is about $600.  The wonderful thing about a flight nanny is that your puppy has the comfort of one on one attention and care in the safety of the airplane cabin.  Your puppy stays in the hands of the nanny for the entire duration of the flight all the way up until meeting you for delivery.  Puppy is kept in a soft comfortable Sherpa carrier that is approved by the airlines and held in the nanny’s lap for duration of the flight.

Final Payments

For families on our waiting lists, final payment on your chosen puppy is due 2 weeks before your litter's pick-up date. If for any reason we haven't received the final payment by this time, your chosen puppy and spot in line will be lost. Your puppy will be considered yours once your Deposit and Final Payment are received. If you need delivery, all shipping fees will be due along with the remaining balance of your puppy.

Rehoming:

If for any reason, you are unable to care for your puppy or adult dog – PLEASE contact us immediately. We will assist in relocating your puppy into a new ‘approved’ home.  Approved home is determined by the breeder only.  Although we will not reimburse you for the original purchase price of the puppy/dog – we guarantee to assist you in placing them into a new loving home.
